For several years now, our forests have been the prey of devastating fires. The hills overlooking Manosque burned during the summer of 2005. Rather than making yet another report on the subject, I tried to find in the charred material the intensity and strength of the pictorial material. The flows of molten sap drawing signs similar to stigmata on the charred trunks impressed the sensitive plate…. In these circumstances, nature is far removed from the natural and the image must try to touch on the essential and not the anecdotal….
